After compiling the research I've done in the last couple of weeks, I've finally narrowed my portfolio to around 30 different company stocks. They range in characteristics, from companies in industries such as biotechnology, communications, banking, and automotive. This list will hopefully be finalized within the next few days and afterwards I'll be able to start tracking the performance of my portfolio until the end of the SRP period.
Throughout this process, I've made use of many different tools for looking into each company. But for the beginner investor, it can be hard to find a reliable source of information without signing up for premium memberships. For company research, I would recommend the website MorningStar, which contains a huge database of free information for the everyday investor. Another free online tool that I'm using is the stock screener and portfolio features on Google Finance.
After everything is set in place and ready to go, I'll share the finalized list of stocks included in my portfolio and also give some summaries/explanations on why I chose each company.
