Here I'll be documenting my progress throughout my Senior Research Project!
But, what is a Senior Research Project?
In the third trimester of the school year, seniors at my school (like myself) get the opportunity to pursue individual research projects of our choosing called Senior Research Projects (SRPs). We take the entire trimester (around 3 months) and work on this project, finally creating some kind of final product, and giving a presentation on our research.
My project---as the title of the blog gives away---will be focusing on exploring Modern Portfolio Theory. During the SRP period, I will be spending my time learning about portfolio theory and investing. Then, I will apply the information I've obtained by creating an investment portfolio, carefully composed of different assets and asset types, trying to minimize the risk of the portfolio while achieving maximum expected returns.
Why portfolio theory?
As a senior in high school, I've been mulling over what I want to study in college. Currently, I'm planning to pursue studies related to finance, so I want to be able to challenge myself now and try and get a head start on this endeavour. Not only will I become more familiar with the various financial jargon that's thrown around in business periodicals and journals, but I'll also become more familiar with the work of a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), giving me an idea if this is the right career path for me.
Updates on my blog will be going up on a weekly basis, so be sure to come back often and check it out!
